Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Awarded $93 Million Folsom South Canal Connection Project in California

(SACRAMENTO) - Balfour Beatty Infrastructure, Inc., a leading heavy civil engineering contractor, has been awarded a $93 million contract by the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) for the construction of the Folsom South Canal Connection Project in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Counties of Northern California.

The full scope of the project includes the construction of two 100 million gallon per day pumping plants; a flow meter splitter structure; two electrical substations; over 3700 linear feet of cement-lined, mortar-coated steel pipeline; 20 miles of fiber-optic cable; and associated roadways and landscaping. The project is scheduled to begin July 2007 and is estimated to be completed by May 2010.

"Balfour Beatty is proud to be awarded the opportunity to lend our water infrastructure expertise to a project that will provide significant long-term benefits for the Sacramento and San Joaquin County communities," said Bill Ogle, vice president - Western Region.

The Folsom South Canal Connection Project is part of the The Freeport Regional Water Project, a joint venture of the Sacramento County Water Agency (SCWA) and EBMUD of Oakland to supply water from the Sacramento River to customers in Sacramento County and the East Bay, San Francisco area. The water for these pumping plants will flow from the Freeport water intake facility on the Sacramento River and continue east through Sacramento County to deliver water to the SCWA and EBMUD facilities. Balfour Beatty Infrastructure was also awarded the $121 million contract for the water intake facilities of The Freeport Regional Water Project by the Freeport Regional Water Authority in December 2006.
