Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Begins Work on $89 Million Wastewater Treatment Plant

(SEATTLE) - Balfour Beatty Infrastructure, Inc., an industry-leading civil engineering contractor, began construction Jan. 19, 2009, on the new Sunnyside Wastewater Treatment Plant in Lake Stevens, Wash. The $89 million contract with the Lake Stevens Sewer District will run through 2011.

"Securing this work in Washington is an integral part of our strategy to expand along the West Coast and meet the increasing demand for more water and wastewater treatment plant infrastructure," said Jim Moynihan, president and CEO of Balfour Beatty Infrastructure. "We look forward to successfully executing this project, which will provide great value to the community."

Balfour Beatty Infrastructure will build the 5 million gallon-per-day plant, which will also include the area that receives the wastewater, an aeration system, ultraviolet disinfection and all the other parts of the treatment process. Other structures and earthworks in the project include a generator building, an administration building, a shop and a stormwater detention pond. Balfour Beatty Infrastructure will construct the treatment structures with reinforced concrete.

Balfour Beatty Infrastructure will also furnish and install an effluent pipeline in a trench to an outfall in the existing slough.
