Harry S. Truman Bridge

Harry S. Truman Parkway

Client: Georgia Department of Transportation
Location: Savannah, GA
Start Date: March 2011
End Date: December 2013
Final Contract Amount: $67 million

Balfour Beatty Infrastructure, Inc. began work in March 2010 on the Harry S. Truman Parkway project just south of Savannah, Ga. The $67 million job for the Georgia Department of Transportation includes about two miles of new highway and three bridges. The scheduled finish date is December 2013.

The team will construct a 5,000-foot twin bridge over the Vernon River, an ecologically sensitive area, and will perform the work from both a temporary trestle bridge and from barges. The project also entails two smaller bridges over existing roads.

Funding for the job is coming from the state of Georgia and the Federal Highway Administration.
