Dallas North Tollway
Client: North Texas Turnpike Authority Location: Dallas, TX Start Date: November 2001 End Date: June 2004 Contract Amount: $30.9 million
Texas, faced with heavy traffic demands, is continually expanding and
improving its toll road system. As part of this infrastructure
improvement effort, Balfour Beatty Infrastructure, Inc. performed a 1.5
mile extension of the Dallas North Tollway from north of Legacy Drive
to south of the Gaylord Parkway.
The
extension included a new three-level interchange, six-lane roadway,
drainage structures, ramps, bridges and retaining walls. Balfour Beatty
Infrastructure self-performed the majority of the work, subcontracting
only specialized items such as water and gas utility installation,
electrical systems and signage.
In recognition of an outstanding
contribution to the public infrastructure, this project received the
2005 Project of the Year for a transportation project over $10 million.
The award was presented by the Texas Chapter of the American Public
Works Association.
