SH 130Client: Texas Turnpike Authority Location: Austin, TX Start Date: June 2002 End Date: April 2009 Contract Amount: $1 billion
Congestion on I-35 and the surrounding area created the need to improve
mobility in and around the Austin-San Antonio corridor. A contract
valued at more than $1 billion, this undertaking included building a
49-mile tollway, seven interchanges and 177 structures. Due to the
significant size of this project, a joint-venture was established
between three major contractors, Fluor Enterprises, T.J. Lambrecht Co.,
and Balfour Beatty Infrastructure, Inc. Work began in June 2002 and was finished in 2009.
In
addition, SH 130 is the first highway in the state of Texas developed
and constructed under a Comprehensive Development Agreement, which
allows for accelerated completion. This type of agreement provides a
time and cost savings to the state.
SH 130 is a four-lane
divided highway extending from I-35 north of Georgetown southward to US
183 southeast of Austin, passing through Williamson and Travis
Counties.
