La Mesa
Client: Metropolitan Transit Development Board Location: La Mesa, CA Start Date: March 2002 End Date: July 2004 Final Contract Amount: $65 million
This project involved the extension of the light rails transit (LRT) system
along Interstate 8 in San Diego, CA. The 2.8-mile section requires
excavation, large-diameter CIDH piling, fills, retaining walls, and two
cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete box girder bridges. Other details
of the project included one precast concrete bridge, a triple box
culvert, several channel sections and two "at grade" architecturally
enhanced platform stations.
The project connected San Diego
State University to the rest of the LRT trolley system that circles
from Jack Murphy Stadium to downtown San Diego. The move was designed
to alleviate the busy westbound and eastbound traffic along Interstate
8.
